I spent the past 20 years looking for a magic pill to motivate myself. I suffered from depression and a lack of motivation, but today I found it. You see, I was asking myself the wrong question.
I was asking myself why I couldn’t go to the gym. What is stopping me from going to the gym? Why don’t I be as motivated to go to the gym as others? But today, I found the answer for you and me. You see, I was asking the wrong question. Today, I spoke to a very motivated friend and asked for some motivation.
I asked him to teach me motivation, and he had a simple answer: motivation comes from within. Nobody can teach you motivation. “You decide why and why not to do stuff.” That was a big insightful moment for me.
The best thing to do is come up with reasons to go to the gym instead of finding reasons that are stopping me. I motivate myself to eat every day. It is all about the why and the why not. I eat because I need to survive. I need to use the same reasoning as why I need to go to the gym. People need to find out why to go.
Motivation is a powerful force that drives the human species to the question of why and what has changed humanity for thousands of years. So today, I chose to go to the gym because it is good for my heart and health. I decided to be healthy versus overweight. I chose to be firm with myself. Only you can motivate yourself, nobody else.
